It was in Germany 1879 when\u00a0Margarete Steiff made an elephant pin cushion and the demand for it to be made as childrens toys was born.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Margarete&#8217;s\u00a0nephew\u00a0Richard \u00a0created the toy bear in 1902 and shortly after an American gentleman ordered 3000 of them.
