I had been down to get this view during the day with my friend Julia. Just as well as it gave me some idea for what I wanted because when we returned just after midnight it was so black we could not see anything.

By the time I took this image I had already been soaked by an incoming tide I did not see. A 30 second exposure showed more than the naked eye did on the night. 

When i was 16 i became obsessed with photography. My dad was kind enough to give me his old Agfa Silette that he received as a birthday gift for his 21st. This was one of the early images i took with it of my friend Julian.
